The Blanchet House of Hospitality
Lending a Helping Hand ...
![]() |
The Blanchet House of Hospitality at 340 NW Glisan Street has been serving meals and providing temporary lodging and job referral to Portland's homeless community since 1952. The organization was founded in 1938 by Father Francis Kennard, a former orphan who convinced a few University of Portland graduates to help give a much needed gift to the world. The Blanchet organization currently has Three sites throughout the Portland area that help give food, shelter, and most importantly, HOPE, to many individuals throughout the region. The Blanchet organization is unique among its kind in that we do not ask for anything in return for the help we provide. We are not supported by government monies, United Way or any other affiliated fund. We have no paid staff; all of the work in all three of our houses is done by volunteers, and we exist solely because of financial contributions from everyday people like you. And although we receive funding from religious organizations such as Catholic Charities, our doors are open to everyone, regardless of race, creed or religion. |
