For almost 60 years the Blanchet House of Hospitality has operated both a free hot meal
service and a transitional housing program for men in the heart of Old Town/Chinatown.
Thousands of donors over the years have generously supported the mission with their tax
deductible contributions, while others have provided in-kind donations of food and
clothing.
In 2009 the Blanchet House launched its first Capital Campaign. The City of Portland and
the Portland Housing Bureau partnered with Blanchet early in the campaign to provide the
land for the new location and funding for a fourth floor. Our loyal base of long-term donors,
together with past and current Board members, displayed tremendous generosity and
quickly propelled the campaign to 75% of our goal. Recently, a number of local charitable
foundations and trusts have shown their support which allowed the Blanchet to officially
break ground on our new home.
We remain very close to our final financial goals and continue to welcome donations to both
our Capital Campaign and Annual Appeal. We sincerely thank all of those who have helped
us achieve so much in such difficult times.
