Emeritus Board
The concept of Blanchet originated on the University of Portland campus in the late 1930’s,
with the formation of the Blanchet Social Club.  Although the House was not formed for
thirteen more years, the club laid the foundation for the future by doing various works of
mercy for the poor in the community.

The founders and prior Board members of Blanchet have devoted a significant amount of
their time, talent and treasure since the formation of the Blanchet Club.  Through good
times and bad times, they committed themselves to Blanchet, in order to ensure that it
would be there for those in need.  Many of those on the Emeritus Board still play an active
role today.
